ASEAN as a Consumer Market

Economic Growth in ASEAN

Right now, Japan is experiencing a shrinking population, meaning that Japanese companies large and small are going to need to start thinking about their expansion overseas in order to expand their business.
On the flip side ASEAN, comprised of 10 countries, have a population of about 620,000,000 and a nominal GDP of $2,300,000,000,000 as of 2012 and is continually seeing expansion in terms of growth. As such, Japanese companies are not just looking at this region for manufacturing based on cheap labor, but also have their sights on South-East Asia as an expanding consumer market.
